2008-09: Signed with ADT Tarragona of LEB3 Spain and had a real 'breakout' type of season. Ranked 3rd in the entire league in scoring, and also ranked 2nd in the entire league in rebounding at 9.21rpg. Also showed his all around complete game by being ranked 2nd in the entire league in evaluation. Showed also his durability by playing the 5th most minutes of any player in the league. Nobody scoring more points than Chris had a higher FG% as he ranked at 9th in the league by shooting a red hot 62% from the floor. Qualified his team to the playoffs. Was runner up to the eventual MVP of the league Drieke Bouldin. There was no stopping Chris this season.
2007-08: Signed with Badajoz in Spain LEB3 where he as a SOLID addition to the team posting a near double double and a great presence down low. Led the team in rebounding with just shy of 9 rpg while breaking into the top 10 in FG percentage with an impressive 61% from the field to make his efficiency level very high.
2006-07: Because of rule changes in Italy Chris could not stay at Jesi and found himself moving into Spain where he joined Marin of the EBA league temporarily. He dominated the competition and received a call from Switzerland before the deadline change date. Chris then signed with SAM Massagno of the LNB league as this team had every intention to move up to the LNA. And they are right on schedule. Chris has come in and led the team in scoring and rebounding over the final phase of the regular season. In the playoffs he continued his stellar play landing the team in the finals where they lost a heartbreaker series 2-1 to the eventual league champs Vacallo. The finals saw Chris dominate game 1 with 26pts, 6 rebs on 8-10 FG shooting and Massagno took at 1-0 series lead. Despite the fact that he repeated very similar performances in the next two games....his team did not rise to the occasions and lost two close games.
2005-06: A knee injury sidelined Chris before the start of the regular season and kept him out for the season.
2004-05: Saw Chris attain duel citizenship in Italy and join with the A1 team JESI. As he was not able to join the squad till February he had much to learn of the European game and didn’t see a lot of court time. He was terribly effective when he was on the court averaging almost a rebound for every two minutes played!
2003-04: Named to the NCAA Div2 Bulletin All-American team. Led the team in scoring, rebounding, blocks and minutes played. A stand out season. Also named to the Daktronics All-American 2nd team. Had the season end on a bit of a sour note as Chris' team was beaten in the NCAA 2 National Tournament on a buzzer beater in their Regional Championship game. That loss prevented Chris to advance to the Elite 8.
2002-03: Heartland Conference Player-of-the-Year and a 2002-03 NCAA-II Honorable Mention All-American, Chris Mortellaro returns for what could be a spectacular senior season...if he is healthy. A foot injury slowed Chris this year...and he still led the team in scoring (18.7 ppg.) and rebounding (8.1 rpg.). A healthy Chris Mortellaro in 2003-04 is the key to a possible conference title and a NCAA-II national tournament bid for this year's Drury team. A two-time all-conference pick, Chris was selected to make the conference elite in this year's coaches' preseason poll. Went 12-12 to set a conference record in a game vs Lincoln 2/20/02. Also sent single season records for FT attempted in a season (236) and made (195). |
