Outlook
A rugged competitor and a talented scorer.  Superb low post moves and can score from wing or low-post.  He does possess 3-pt range and is a strong rebounder. A very skilled big man he is quite fundamentally sound in all areas.  Good mechanics on his shot allow him to shoot with range and also provide solid numbers at the free throw line.  Crashed the offensive boards hard and also is an excellent weak side shot blocker.  He also has worked hard and is now a solid ball handler and can move out and play some minutes on the perimeter.  Defends both the PF and C spots effectively.  Great physical body let's him bang around in the low blocks while still being quick enough to blow by most post players.

Career

2011-12: Signed with Brest in France but soon realized that he was not a good fit for the team and left immediately for Soles de Mexicali where he immediately fit in and thrived.  Was second on the team in scoring at 13.5ppg and lead the team in rebounding after he joined them.  Pushed the team into 5th place to enter the playoffs where they eliminated Panteras in the first round.  Eventually they drew Pineros a strong club and finally lost in a hard fought 5 games.  He caught the eye of more than one coach with his strong south American showing and immediately joined the top team in Argentina Obras where alot of good things immediately happened.  Captured the LIGA SUDAMERICANA and qualified to the finals of the LIGA Americas Final Four before again losing to the Mexican squad Pineros.  Kept up their excellent run through the playoffs and ended up in the championships facing Penerol.

2010-11: Signed with Kataja of the top league in Finland and immediately went to work in the league.  Finished the season as the Finnish Cup winner also taking the team fo the league finals.  For his outstanding season he was recognized to the Eurobasket All Finland Honorable mention squad.  Second on the team in scoring at 13.8ppg, second on the team in steals.  Lead the team in FG% at an amazing 62.7% which was also good for 3rd in league play and also lead the team in rebounds at 8.3rpg.

2009-10: Resigned with the Leuven Bears after an outstanding previous season and continued fighting and showing his ability as a promising young player. Though his numbers weren’t as great as his previous year, he stayed consistent with his scoring (8.1ppg) and rebounding (4.7rpg). The team would not possess the same ability to make it to the playoffs once again and ending their season short this year.

2008-09: signed with the Leuven Bears in hopes to bring them back into the spotlight and help them achieve an appearance in the playoffs, something they have not achieved in many years. As a rookie, Darren Fells quickly shined for the Bears by being the 3rd leading scorer on the team with 9.3ppg and also the 2nd leading rebounder with 4.9rpg. Leuven’s dream to make a playoff appearance came true as the Bears defeated Oostende, taking their 6th place spot in the playoffs. Sadly, their playoff run would end in the 3rd game of the 1st round against Aastar, who would go on to lose in the championship game.
