2011-12: Signed in Japan with Miyazaki Shining Suns of the BJ league. Immediately was named co-captain of the team and showed why. Ranked 12th in the league in rebounds (9.7rpg) and 1st on the team. 2nd on the team in assists with a fantastic 3.3apg at the frontcourt spots. Also 2nd on the team in scoring with 13.0ppg. Shows that he is a real team player but also can step up and take over the game on either end of the floor. Was actually have a fantastic year but was clouded when the team dropped into financial uncertainty. That cause the entire team including Darryl to be unfocused for the last weeks of the season resulting in an understandable drop in stats.
2010-11: Started the season in Uruguay for Montevideo. The team had several players in this season. While he was there he was second on the team in scoring, 3rd in rebounds and 1st in 3pt%. Went for a season high of 29pts vs Bigua on 4-8 3pt on 11/22/10. Also dished out a season high 4 assists during that same game. At the end of the first stage the team was experiencing some financial problems so he departed for home. Shortly afterwards he signed with the Nelson Giants of the NZBL where he immediately asserted himself as one of the best post players this season. He open the season with a season high of 29pts on 6-8 3pt shooting in his first game vs Waikato (4/16/11). He was consistent all season long and carried his team to a top 4 finish. Entering the playoffs he turned up his game to destroy Manawatu in the quarterfinals with 26pts+13 rebs! Unfortunately they ran into a powerful and stacked Wellington team that defeated them in the semi finals but Darryl was still great recording a double double of 11pts and 14rebs (7/15/11). A fantastic all around season and he ended up ranked 10th in the league in scoring.
2009-10: Signed with Salon Vilpas of the top league in Finland and began to assert himself. Scored a season high 26pts vs Topo 10/14/09. Snatched a season high 12 rebounds on 5 separate occasions. Dished a season high 5 assists vs KTP in the first game of the season 10/2/09. Problems with the team payment caused him to move over to SC Rasta Vechta in Germany ProB. There he did much the same doing what he does well. Went for a season high 26pts vs Wolfenbuettel on 5-7 3pt shots. Grabbed a season high 12 rebounds on two occasions and continued to shoot the 3 ball very well.
2008-09: Signed with Atletico Atenas for the season. Second on the team in scoring and rebounding. Posted some amazing shooting games but left during the season when he injured his wrist.
2007-08: Started the season in France with Challans of the National 1 league, which to be honest was the wrong place for him . He was placed there prior to working with B3. He did not thrive in that enviornment and last that season in February moved to the top league in Sweden where he suited up for Sodertalje. There he got on track averaging about 13pts and 8 rebs per game while shooting a whopping 47% from the 3 pt line!
2003-07: Played his 4 years for the legendary coach Bobby Knight at Texas Tech.and posted solid numbers in the Big12 conference. Contributed to his team in many ways—was top 2 or 3 on the team in scoring, rebounds, and assists his junior year. Very good outside shooter—known for making clutch 3-pointers late in games. Bobby Knight described him as a "Great inside/outside player with exceptional perimeter skills for his size" |
