2009-10: Signed with VSC Guimaraes of the top league in Portugal and immediately went to work in the league. Finished the regular season as the #1 rebounder in the league with 10.2rpg and was named MVP of the Portuguese league for 2009-10. Also led the team in scoring and was #4 in the league in 18.7ppg. Also registered 3.5apg which was second on the team and good for 10th overall in the league. An absolutely dominant season. Too many highlights to chronicle. Led his team again to the semi-finals but ran into league powerhouse Benfica which just had too many weapons to overcome.
2008-09: Signed with the Albany Patroons of the CBA and immediately showed why he has been one of the top players in the CBA year to year. Was second on the team in both scoring and rebounding and led them to the CBA finals where they were defeated in overtime by the Oklahoma Cavalry. On the heels of that season the Ginebra Kings of the PBA immediately called for Rod to return to their team in hopes of again challenging for a championship down there. He did not dissapoint as he scored 42pts and snatched 23rebs in his first game there!
2007-08: Signed initially with Surgut of the Russian Superleague but soon came to find out the team was in financial disarray and lfeft the team after 7 games to join Rio Grande for the team's initial season in the CBA. Had another standout season in the CBA but left the team early to move down to Angola for a short stint for the defending champs Petro Luanda.
2006-07: SIGNED at Vigo Basquet-Spain LEB2 but had problems with the team being very financially irresponsible. Then was signed by Ginebra of the Philipeans PBA league where he was one of the best imports to go through there in a long time and eventually led them to the semi-finals before losing to the eventually champions.
2005-06: Started the season in Israel with the team Elizzur Ramla. Rod had the task of taking them up to the first division. He started out at the top of the league in both scoring and rebounding. Toward the end of the season with the team sitting in playoff contention Ramla decided they did not have the finances in place to go up to first division even if they won. Rod was then called up by Ramat Gan to save their season and keep them in first division. Upon arriving there the team went 3-2 and Rod had been key in all of their wins.....went for a season high 25pts and 11rebs against Hapoel Tel Aviv (5/4/06) on 11-18 FG.....recored a season high 38min vs Macabbi Rishon (4/16/06) and posted 24pts and 4rebs in a key win. The coach was then fired and Rod continued his stellar play but the new coach gave him less minutes. Rod was still extremely productive in his new role.
2004-05: Started the season in Germany with TSK poised to have a GREAT season but only 7 games into it he suffered a full fracture of his foot and was out for the rest of the season. He actually fractured his foot and played 2 more games but was very hobbled and realized it was more than just a sprain.
2003-04: Started the season in Israel with BC Haifa (ISR D1) where after 8 games he was averaging 14.9ppg, 5.8rpg, 1.8apg. But continued financial problems caused Rod to leave the team and he moved in Decemeber to Kiryat Bialick(ISR D2) where he finished up the regular season of the remaining 12 games : 26.8 ppg, 11.5 rpg, 3.2 apg.
2002-03: Houston Baptist University (NAIA I) where Rod lead the nation with a scoring average of 28.9ppg while also posting better than 11rpg! |
