Outlook
A born leader.   He can heat up and dominate a game with his offensive production.  An excellent on the ball defender as well he takes pride in his ability at the defensive end.  With a high basketball IQ he 'sees' the floor and stays a step ahead of his defender.  Quick to pick up on any offensive set he blends easily several different styles of play.  Is the consummate point guard thinking of the pass first and always looking to set up open teammates.  Has a great sense of what is going to happen on the floor and is in the right place at the right time.  A coach's dream as he runs systems always looking to capitalize on defensive mistakes.  Has really improved his upper body strength and is physically able to wear down smaller opponents.  Always ready to step up and take the big shot.  A crunch time player.

Career

2009-10:  Signed with Keravnos in the Cypriot league also playing in the Eurochallenge.  Part of a very strong backcourt boasting players like Lonnie Cooper and Jarrett Hart to tackle the EuroChallenge.  Posted a Eurochallenge best game vs Roanne from France when in 20min Sam scored 11pts and dished out 3assts.  A late season coaching change facilitated the move from Cyprus back to Holland where he joined on with Aris Leeuwarden.  Stepped in as exactly what the team needed anchoring the backcourt and giving the team an experienced floor leader.  His presence was immediately felt and he steered the team into the semi-finals where they had a furious series with the eventual champs the Giants going down in 4 games.

2008-09:  Signed with Apollon in Cyprus.  The thought process behind the team was that Sam would provide a great backup PG but it soon became apparent that the team wins when he is playing.  Again showing that his influence on the game and his teamates was not something that can be easily seen in any statistical category except WINS!  Did rank 10th in the league in assists and also roamed the passing lanes defensively to rank 3rd overall in the league in steals.  Shot an ASTOUNDING 75% from the field for the season!!  Led his team to the playoffs, where he promptly does what he does so well, 'take his game up a notch'.  In the 7 playoff games the team had Sam was instrumental in  the wins and almost single-handedly propelled the team to the next series.

2007-08: Signed at Rotterdam Challengers at the beginning of the season and helped them to a .500 record after 12 games but then received an offer and moved to Caceres in Spain.  There is promptly took the team on his back and after a start that saw the team commence the season at 4-8, Sam quarterbacked the team to 7 straight wins and 10 of of the next 12 in all.  Turned that season around and led them to the playoffs.  Caceres enjoyed success and were promoted to LEB Gold.

2006-07: Another GREAT individual and team season.  Saw action in the ULEB cup and one highlight was beating eventual champions Real Madrid from Spain at home in Amsterdamn where he recorded 5pts, 4ass, 3rebs and a steal in 36min (10/31/06).  Went for a ULEB season highs of 12pts and 6 rebounds to go along with 5 assists and 3 steals against Unics Kazan (11/14/06).  Dished out a ULEB season high 10 assists again against Unics in the return match on 12/19/06.  Ranked an impressive 7th in assists per game in the regular season of the ULEB with 4.4apg.

Quarterback the dominant team in Holland this year dropping very few games on route to an amazing 34-5 record over all.  Led the team in assists and was 2nd overall in the league with 7.0 apg.  Had a near triple double with 11pts, 12assists and 7 rebounds vs Zwolle (19/10/06).  Continued his stellar play in the playoffs which saw Eiffel go for the sweep (4-0) of second place Matrixx Magixx.  Sam was instumental in the victory recording a team best 17pts and a team high 8 assists.  During the playoffs he shot a red hot 40% from beyond the arc (20-49) while still keeping his assists high at 6.6 apg.  Captures his second Championship in a row in Holland.

2005-06:

A highly sought after player in the Dutch market after Tulip Den Bosch merged with the Eiffel Towers.  A bad groin injury slowed what was supposed to be a breakout season but returns to full strength in time for playoffs.  Currently the backbone of the first place team.....went for a season high 19pts vs Zwolle (9/3/06) on a blistering 7/8 FG.  Dished a season high 9 assist to go along with 6rebs and 12 points in a crucial victory against against the MPC Capitals on 29/1/06.  Shot an amazing 75% from 3 again against MPC on 18/03/06.

Capped a great season by capturing a Dutch Championship and a birth to next season's ULEB cup.

2004-05:

Had a great season again for Den Bosch and led his team back to the playoffs when they had an unexpected first round exit.  Did some amazing things in the season with a near triple double with 17pts, 11assists and 9 rebs against Leuwarden on 13/1/05.  Had several more games that were near misses at the triple double showing his great ability.  Ranked third in the league in assists AND steals and was named to the all defensive team.  Again pushed his overall stats up to show he is a 'money-time' player.  Push his assists up to 7apg and rebouding to 5.3rpg.

2003-04:

Took his team to the finals before finally surrendering 4-2 to the eventual league champs MPC Capitals.  Was fourth in the league in assists with 5.2apg, and 3rd in the league in steals.  Showed that he is a big time player and boosted his offensive output from just under 10ppg to a whopping 18ppg during the playoffs while shooting a staggering 47% from behind the 3pt line.
