![]() 2009-10: Resigned with Düsseldorf for the 2009-10 season. The team knew that Zach has the ability to be a league all star but they wanted to bring along a young German PG in preparation for the changes in the league for 2010-11 and Zach saw his playing time diminish drastically. He still managed to put together some great performances when given minutes and scored a season high 13pts in only 17minutes of playing time vs Geissen (1/30/10). Dished out a season high 6 assists in a narrow 2pt loss to Bamberg (11/14/09). Pulled down a season high 7 rebs vs Luidwigsburg (12/19/09).
2008-09: Signed for the Artland Dragons but shockingly the new coach there did not feel that Zach was the correct guard for the team. In February joined the Dusseldorf Giants. Zack helped Artland to a 7-4 record to start the season but for some inexplicable reason the coach decided that he needed another PG. In any case that turned into disaster for Artland and they did not qualify for the playoffs or advance in the EuroChallenge. This is a tale of two seasons, during his time at Artland Zach recorded career lows as his minutes averaged out to only 16mpg before he left the team. He did have some fantastically effective games for them early in the season and still recorded 2.8apg to end up being ranked 2nd of that team! He was able to show again his true ability in that league upon his return to the Giants. Zach posted a team high in assists and ended up ranked 3rd in the league with 4.4 apg. He also recorded a healthy 2.8rpg to go along wtih just shy of 9pts per game.
Led the Giants of Leverkusen to the final four of the playoffs while leading the country in assists for the entire season. Had a fantastic rookie season. Showed he can compete at high levels by leading the league in assists. Also was the first player to record a triple double in the league in 8 years when he went for 13pts, 10rebs and 10 assists on 23/4/08 vs LTi Giessen 46ers. It is a rare occurrence to see a triple double and it comes as no surprise to see Zach set that mark in his first overseas season. Also shot an amazing 46% on the season from beyond the 3pt line and was a perfect 4-4 from distance vs the Artland Dragons (26/04/08).
2006-07: Simply put : Whiting is on the radar! What can you say about a season like this? Led his team in every major statistical category en route to posting a near triple double on the season. With averages of 20.7ppg, 10.7apg and 7.1rpg Whiting became a major player on the NCAA Div2 scene. Because of his outstanding year he was nominated for the prestigious Cousy award given to the country's BEST PG irregardless of the level and was among elite company alongside Darren Collison (UCLA), Acie Law (Texas A&M), Taurean Green (Florida). The post season awards keep on coming as Whiting was named First Team All-West region, Daktronics All-American, Pac-West Conference player of the year, NABC All-West Region First team as well as being invited to a slew of post season All-Star games. He went for a season high 39pts to go along with 14rebs and 13 assists vs Indianapolis (12/30/06)....showed he has what it takes as he scored 14pts and dished out 10 assists vs National Runner up UCLA in 33 minutes of play (11/20/06). Showed that was no accident the next night recording 13pts, 6 rebounds and 13assist vs Depaul (11/21/06). 2005-06: Enjoyed a fantastic junior year, helping lead the Silverswords to a school record for wins and an NCAA tournament birth. Zack started all 27 games he played in. Was 5th in the nation in assists at 8.1 per game. Averaged 14.1 ppg to go along with 5 rebounds per contest. Shot 52% from the floor and 43% from three. Was selected to the All-Pac West First Team for the second consecutive year and was also named All West Region. 2004-05: Started all 27 games for the Swords as a sophomore. Led the team in minutes played, assists (183) and steals (55). Was second on the team in scoring (14.5 ppg) and rebounding (6.0 rpg). A crafty scorer, Zack shot 47% from the field, 40% from the arc and 70% from the line for the year. Along with leading Chaminade, Zack also led the league in assists and steals. This led to a First Team All-PacWest selection. 2003-04: Appeared in 5 games before a season-ending injury forced him to the sidelines. In five games Whiting played an average of 23 minutes per game. He recorded 28 points, 11 assists and 18 rebounds while shooting 47% from the field and 62% from the free throw line. Zack was awarded a medical red-shirt for the 2003-04 season and has three years of eligibility remaining. Feather River College: Played one year at the Quincy, California school. Zack will have three years of eligibility remaining after averaging 11.5 points, 7.7 assists, 4.7 rebounds and 2.4 steals per game while leading the Golden Eagles to a 23-9 overall record in 2002-03. He was named to the Golden Valley All-Conference team. High School: He was a four year starter for coach Randy Gilzeanat Pleasant Valley High School in Chico, California.
