Coach Daniel Pearson
Title: Head Coach
Team: Reading Rockets, United Kingdom 2021 - present
Daniel Pearson was named head men's basketball coach of the Rockets in May 2021.
In August of 2021, Dan accepted the Head Coach position with the Reading Rockets Basketball Club in England’s National Basketball League 1st Division. In addition to coaching the Men’s team at the Rockets, Dan also headed up the top academy and club team for the program, playing in England’s
EABL (Elite Academy Basketball League) and England’s U18 Premier League. Both competitions created an overlap in the Rockets’ “academy-based” model, which brought in some of the UK’s top young players to attend John Madejski Academy, dorm in Reading, and complete their post-graduate school year in hopes of acquiring a university scholarship in North America, while the top academy players trained and played with the Men.
Dan’s coaching career at the collegiate level started in 2013 after completing his playing career at the NAIA with then newly appointed head coach at Carroll College,Dr. Carson Cunningham, to work as an assistant basketball coach for his alma mater. While coaching at Carroll College for three years, Dan obtained his Master’s in Organizational Leadership from Gonzaga University. In Dan’s three years coaching at Carroll College, the Fighting Saints went from a team that won only 2 games the year prior to program change (2013) to winning 23 games and competing in the National Quarter=nals in 2016.
In the summer of 2016, Dan moved to Calgary, Alberta to take a position coaching at the University of Calgary. While at the University of Calgary, the Dinos were able to achieve a great deal of success, building upon the National Championship appearance for the program in the 2015-16 season. Over Dan’s =ve years with the Dinos (4 seasons and a Covid year), the Dinos won two CanadaWest Regular Season Titles (2017 and 2019), two CanadaWest Tournament Titles (2018 and 2019), four USport Final 8 appearances (2017, 2018, 2019, 2020), and two National Championship Game appearances (2018 and 2019), winning the National Title in 2018. In those four years, the Dinos accrued a USport record of 110 wins and 20
losses (.846 win percentage).
During the 2020-21 season, that saw USports cancel competition due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Dan was invited to San Antonio, Texas to work with NCAA Division1 University of Incarnate Word as a special assistant under his former employer, Dr.Carson Cunningham
